What is Scrip?
Scrip is a substitute for money in the form of prepaid cards that can be used like cash to purchase your everyday products and services. Scrip cards can be used towards anything from groceries, fuel, clothing, and toys to entertainment, electronics, home improvement or vacations. They are also a great gift idea for anyone and any occasion. Every time you purchase a scrip card, you earn money for Apollo.
How Scrip earns money for Apollo:
GLScrip.com purchased large quantities of discounted gift cards and gift certificates from some of the most popular merchants nationwide. By using these scrip cards instead of cash to pay for products and services that you would normally buy anyway, GLScrip.com will pass the discounts on to us. You do not pay more than the face value of each card. For example, if you want to spend $100 for groceries, you buy a scrip card to the store of your choice with a face value of $100.
Scrip is “shopping cart fundraising”
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Families earn money for Apollo by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, toys, clothing, entertainment and gifts can be purchased with scrip. This fundraiser will not cost you anything more because you simply use scrip instead of cash to buy what you would normally purchase. It’s easy.
How it’s done:
The first week of the month you will receive a large envelope with your child’s name & room number. The envelope will include an order form and detailed explanation of how the program works. Please reuse this envelope to send in future orders.
Send in your order using kid mail, or drop off at the main office by the 2nd Thursday of the month (With exceptions). Please make checks payable to: Apollo PTA. Please staple your check to the order form, and write the check number in the memo field.
You can choose to receive your Scrip orders through kid mail or pick it up after school from 2:45 to 3:00pm on the following Thursday of each month. (Please see Scrip Calendar) Another option is to have the scrip cards mailed to you. Please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your order if this is how you prefer to receive your scrip cards.
